Important information on the MEBEKO processing backlog

Current status (06.01.2026):

  • Processing time: currently up to 3.5 months for recognition applications
  • Under review/nearing completion: applications received in September 2025
  • Acknowledgements of receipt: sent by e-mail within three weeks of receipt
  • Telephone support: temporarily on Mondays, 08:30–11:30
  • E-mail support response time: currently up to nine weeks

Note

  • Applications for the registration of a diploma may occasionally have longer processing times (currently under review: applications from April and May).
  • Our resources are prioritised for processing applications, which are handled in the order in which they are received. Please wait until we contact you. Enquiries in person, by telephone or by e-mail do not speed up the process.
  • The next update is scheduled for end of January.

Applications for the recognition of foreign diplomas and qualifications in medical and psychology professions must be submitted in one of Switzerland's national languages (German, French, Italian).
