Important information on the MEBEKO processing backlog

Current status (27.11.2025):

  • Processing time: currently up to 4 months for applications for recognition
  • In progress/completed: applications for recognition received by mail in June 2025
  • Acknowledgements of receipt: for applications received in September 2025 (note: acknowledgments are now sent exclusively by e-mail)
  • Telephone support: currently available on Monday from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m.
  • Email support response time: currently up to four weeks

Outlook

  • The backlog is expected to be reduced by the end of the year so that processing times do not exceed three months.
  • To accelerate processing, additional staff are deployed and several digitalisation projects are being implemented.

Note

  • Applications for the registration of a diploma may temporarily require longer processing times (currently being processed: applications from April and May).
  • We prioritise our resources for processing applications. These are handled in the order in which they are received. Please wait until we contact you. Enquiries in person, by telephone or by e-mail do not speed up the process.

Applications for the recognition of foreign diplomas and qualifications in medical and psychology professions must be submitted in one of Switzerland's national languages (German, French, Italian).
