Important information on the MEBEKO processing backlog

Current status:

  • Processing time: currently up to 4 months for applications for recognition
  • In progress/completed: applications for recognition received by mail in June 2025
  • Acknowledgements of receipt: for applications received in September 2025 (note: acknowledgments are now sent exclusively by e-mail)
  • Telephone support: currently available on Monday from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m.
  • Email support response time: currently up to four weeks

Outlook

  • The backlog should be cleared by the end of the year at the latest, at which point the processing time will be less than three months.
  • From mid-November, email inquiries should be answered within a week.
  • Additional staff have been brought in and digitization projects are being implemented to speed up the process.

We are focusing our resources on processing applications. These are dealt with in the order in which they are received – please wait until we contact you. Inquiries made in person, by phone, or by email cannot speed up this process.

Applications for the recognition of foreign diplomas and qualifications in medical and psychology professions must be submitted in one of Switzerland's national languages (German, French, Italian).
