NOSO in hospitals: Tools
Hospitals need practical tools addressing hygiene to further reduce the risk of infection for their patients. As part of the NOSO Strategy, concrete preventive and monitoring tools are being developed and refined.
CAUTI surveillance and intervention
Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) are the most common of all healthcare-associated infections at around 15% of total infections.
“SSI (surgical site infection) Intervention” module
With “SSI Intervention”, Swissnoso has developed a bundle of measures aimed at avoiding surgical site infections.
Clean Care Monitor
The Clean Care Monitor app from Swissnoso evaluates the extent to which medical staff in hospitals are following the measures to prevent infection and shows them the results immediately.
Clean Hands
Proper hand hygiene among healthcare personnel is the be-all and end-all when it comes to preventing the spread of germs. A Swissnoso tool can be used to measure how well hand hygiene measures are being put into practice.
Non-ventilator associated Hospital acquired Pneumonia (nvHAP)
Pneumonia contracted in hospital by patients who are not being ventilated contributes to elevated morbidity and mortality rates and prolonged stays in hospital. University Hospital Zurich is developing and evaluating a package of preventive measures.
SSI Surveillance
Swissnoso uses SSI Surveillance to record the development of surgical site infections in Swiss hospitals, publishing its findings in an annual report.
