Clean Hands

Clean Hands is a tool from Swissnoso that measures and records how well hand hygiene is being put into practice.

Many healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) result when germs are spread by the hands of medical personnel. To prevent the spread of germs (some of them multiresistant), proper hand hygiene has to be assured at key phases in the care of patients. CleanHands is used to record observations, analyse them automatically and present them in graphical form. Because the results are available immediately, the personnel observed can be given direct feedback. This is based on the “My 5 Moments” concept set down by the World Health Organization (WHO) in its Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care. The app has been available since 2015 and is already used by more than 100 healthcare institutions.
