Military insurance: Insurer and oversight

Military insurance is the smallest federal social insurance and is entrusted to just one insurer. Like all federal social insurance, the Confederation is responsible for oversight.

Who provides military insurance?

Military insurance is provided by Suva.

The management is in Bern. Claims must be registered by a military doctor, attending physician or the insured person through a Suva office. Depending on the insured person’s residence, the claim is processed by the office in Geneva, Bern, St. Gallen or Bellinzona.

Who oversees military insurance?

The Federal Office of Public Health and the Swiss Federal Audit Office are responsible for overseeing military insurance.
