We are in contact with chemicals on an almost daily basis. But whereas a toilet cleaner is easily recognised as a chemical, the fact that washing-up liquid and hand soap are chemicals as well barely registers anymore.

The UFI code: rapid aid in an emergency
Hazardous chemical products must carry a UFI code in Switzerland. In an emergency, medical professionals can use this code to quickly determine which substances are contained in the product and take targeted action.
Purchasing chemical products online
Be careful when buying chemical products online (e.g. cleaning products, disinfectants or insecticides) – especially from online shops abroad or when purchasing via social media. These suppliers often fall outside the scope of Swiss legislation. This means that the products offered do not always comply with the current requirements in Switzerland and may be harmful to health. They may contain hazardous substances, be inadequately labelled or lack important safety information.
