Accident prevention: Oversight

The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) oversees the implementing bodies for occupational safety and is also responsible for adapting the legal provisions relating to the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases.

The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) oversees the implementing bodies for occupational safety. It is also responsible for adapting the legal provisions relating to the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. In addition, the FOPH monitors legal rulings in the area of prevention of occupational accidents and diseases and drafts opinions for the attention of the Swiss Federal Supreme Court where necessary. Its remit also includes responding to enquiries on the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases, implementing bilateral agreements in this area and monitoring the work of the FCOS.
