Flu pandemic: Surgery visits and house calls

If you have serious flu symptoms and are in a high-risk group, first call your doctor.

Visiting the doctor

In a pandemic your doctor’s surgery will be reorganised and set up to minimise the risk of infection. Please follow the instructions given to you at reception.

Special healthcare and advice centres

In the event of a pandemic the cantons may set up special centres designed to take the strain off family doctors and general practice surgeries. The cantons will inform the public about these centres and provide information on when and how they can be reached.

House calls

If you need to see a doctor but can’t leave home, ask your family doctor or a home nursing service to make a house call. If you can’t reach your doctor, phone the 144 emergency number. Only go to the hospital emergency department of your own accord if your condition gets worse and you can’t reach your doctor.
