What is the COVID certificate?
The COVID certificate is like an ID document.
The COVID certificate can say 3 different things:
- Whether you are vaccinated.
This means that you have been given a vaccine against the coronavirus
- Or whether you are recovered.
This means that you were infected with the coronavirus.
But now you are healthy again.
- Or whether you have been tested.
This means that you have taken a coronavirus test.
The test was negative.

Where do you need to have a COVID certificate?
Switzerland
From 17 February 2022,
you no longer need to have a COVID certificate in Switzerland.
There may be stricter rules in some cantons.
You might still need to have a certificate in these cantons.
Outside of Switzerland
Would you like to travel outside of Switzerland?
Then you will perhaps still need a COVID certificate.
How do you get a COVID certificate?
This section is for people who have been vaccinated:
You will receive the COVID certificate after the vaccination.
This section is for people who have recovered:
Were you infected with COVID in the last 6 months?

This section is for people who have taken a COVID test:
Tell the employees at the test centre
that you would like a COVID certificate.
You will then be given the COVID certificate.
How do you show the COVID certificate?
You may still have to show the COVID certificate in some places.
You now need to show the COVID certificate and a form of ID.
You can show the COVID certificate in 2 different ways:
- On your smartphone
- Printed out on paper
How to show the certificate on your smartphone:
1. Download the app.
The app is called COVID Certificate.
You can download the app here:
- In the Apple App Store
- In the Google Play Store
- In the Huawei AppGallery
2. Use the app to scan the QR code.
The QR code is the black square that contains lots of square dots.
3. Show the employee the app with the QR code.
4. Show also a form of ID:
For example an identity card or the SwissPass.
5. The employee will check the COVID certificate.
You can then go in.
How to show the COVID certificate on paper:
1. Show the employee the printed-out COVID certificate.
