Radioactivity alarm system

Several independent systems are in operation to monitor ambient exposure in Switzerland:

URAnet Aero - URA
URAnet Aero is an automatic measurement network for the rapid detection (30 minutes) of an increase in radioactivity in the air; it is operated by the URA section and has 15 stations spread throughout the country.

NADAM - CENAL
NADAM is an automatic dose rate monitoring network operated by the National Alarm Centre (CENAL), with 63 stations throughout Switzerland.

MADUK - IFSN
MADUK is an automatic network dedicated to monitoring dose rates in the vicinity of nuclear power plants; it is operated by the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) and comprises 57 stations located near Swiss nuclear power plants and the Paul Scherrer Institute.
