Veterinary medicine

Here you will find information on which radioprotection training is designed for veterinary surgeons and practice assistants.

Veterinary surgeons

Veterinary surgeons who wish to obtain a licence to operate a diagnostic X-ray system must take a (1 day) expertise course. This course is run by the Swiss Veterinary Association. A prerequisite for participation is a Swiss veterinary degree or a foreign veterinary degree recognized as equivalent.

Further information on expertise courses (venues, dates, etc.) can be obtained directly from the Swiss Veterinary Association (under ‘Links’).

Veterinary practice assistants (EFZ)

The veterinary practice assistant proficiency certificate (EFZ) provides evidence of the necessary qualifications for veterinary X-ray examinations. Veterinary practice assistants are thus entitled to operate veterinary X-ray systems under the direction of an expert veterinary surgeon.
