Addictions and dependencies pose a risk to individuals and society at large. For this reason we promote people’s health literacy and encourage them to take responsibility for themselves. Here you’ll find information about the various addictions and about addiction prevention, regulation, damage limitation, counselling and therapies.

Alcohol at international level

Alcohol is a major risk factor for disease, causing around 6% of all deaths. To combat this, WHO announced a global strategy, which underpins its European action plan 2012-2020.

Tobacco at international level

Smoking kills 6 million people a year globally and is the leading cause of preventable death. WHO and the EU stipulate certain standards to curb the consumption of tobacco products.
