Notifications and reports concerning current stem cell research projects should be addressed to the FOPH and the ethics committees.
What notifications/reports must be provided?
Project for the derivation of human embryonic stem cells from surplus embryos (DER) | a) Notification within 15 days to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) b) Final report within 6 months to the FOPH |
Research project aimed at improving derivation methods, using surplus embryos (RP-DM) | a) Notification within 15 days to the FOPH b) Final report within 6 months to the FOPH |
Research project involving human embryonic stem cells (stem cell research project/RP-S) | a) Notification within 15 days to the competent ethics committee and to the FOPH b) Final report within 6 months to the competent ethics committee and to the FOPH |
Annual notification of storage of human embryonic stem cells
Anyone who stores human embryonic stem cells must notify the FOPH annually, as at 1 July, of the total numbers of deposits and withdrawals, and of the number of stem cell lines stored and the characterization thereof (unless the Federal Office of Public Health has already been informed via an application or final report).
