In exceptional cases, at the competent doctor's request, the FOPH may authorise the dispensing of up to one month's supply of daily doses to a patient.
Art. 13 para. 3 of the Ordinance on Narcotics Addiction (NarcAO; RS 812.121.6), provides for the possibility of dispensing up to seven daily doses of diacetylmorphine.
However, at the reasoned request of the competent doctor, in exceptional cases the FOPH can authorise the dispensing of up to one month's supply of daily doses to a patient.
Content of the request
In order for a licence to be granted for the exceptional dispensing of up to one month's supply of doses of diacetylmorphine, the following conditions must be met:
- The patient must have been on prescribed diacetylmorphine-assisted treatment for at least six months without interruption;
- The risk of abuse must be deemed very low;
- The patient's health and social situation must be stable;
- The patient has to travel for a certain period for personal or professional reasons
The request for the exceptional dispensing of up to one month's supply of diacetylmorphine must be submitted by the attending physician from the institution on behalf of the patient.
The licence for the exceptional dispensing of up to one month's supply of doses of diacetylmorphine is free of charge (Art. 40 let. d NarcAO)
