Health Strategies Division

The Health Strategies Division coordinates and deals with legislation projects, strategies and other dossiers relating to the various fields of health policy.

The themes are specified in the Federal Council's health policy strategy, Health2030, and also by parliament's health policy agenda. Important common issues are quality, transparency and, equal opportunities in the healthcare system, as well as demographic and social change, and technological and digital change.

The National Dementia Platform aims to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and their families. To achieve this it focuses on a range of specific issues.

Palliative Care

The National Strategy for Palliative Care was implemented by the federal government from 2010 to 2015. Measures were introduced in several areas, such as care delivery, education and awareness-raising.

Our health system must be accessible to all, regardless of language, origin, social status or educational level.

Support for relatives providing care and nursing

Given the demographic development, the significance of relatives providing care for their ill family members will continue to increase in future. For that reason there are a number of measures to better support relatives.

Your relationship with your doctor involves rights and obligations. Here you can find out about your specific rights at the doctor's and in hospital, and in relation to living wills, organ donation and counselling.

Action plan on suicide prevention in Switzerland

The federal government has worked closely with other stakeholders to draw up the action plan on suicide prevention. The aim is the reduction of suicid-ality during stress crises or mental illnesses.
