The Human Research Act (HRA) is ten years old
Bern, 22.10.2024 – The Human Research Act came into force in Switzerland ten years ago. The Federal Office of Public Health has announced a symposium to mark the anniversary. It will take place in Bern on 22 November 2024.
The Human Research Act (HRA) came into force in Switzerland on 1 January 2014. Since then, this law has uniformly regulated the requirements for research involving human beings at a national level. The primary aim of the HRA is to protect the person’s dignity, personality and health in the context of research.
Looking back and ahead
The FOPH is holding a symposium to mark the 10-year anniversary of the HRA. It will take place in Bern on Friday, 22 November 2024. Experts from academia, industry, NGOs and administration will review the past during the event, share their findings and look to the future. The discussion will centre on the following questions: Which conclusions can be drawn from the experiences of the past ten years? What are the current challenges from the perspective of authorities, legal minds, research and people who take part in research? How could human research develop over the next ten years and beyond?
Attendance is free
The symposium is open to the public and free of charge. It is for anyone who is interested in the subject of research involving humans. Visit the Coordination Office for Human Research website for further information and to register: Symposium 10 years of the Human Research Act | Kofam
