Salt, Sunrise and Swisscom to send text about the SwissCovid app

13.7.2020 – The three Swiss mobile network operators, Salt, Sunrise and Swisscom, support the widespread use of the SwissCovid app. At our request, they are sending their customers a text message recommending that they install the SwissCovid app.

The three Swiss mobile network operators, Salt, Sunrise and Swisscom, are recommending in a text message that their customers should install the SwissCovid app. They are not providing us with any customer contact details.

Using the app is free of charge. Salt, Sunrise und Swisscom are covering the cost to their customers of any data usage by the app.

We would like to thank the three mobile network operators for their support in promoting the SwissCovid app.

The SwissCovid app complements conventional contact tracing. It notifies users if they have spent a certain length of time in close proximity to a person infected with the coronavirus. In order for the app to send the notification, the person infected, on testing positive for the virus, is given a ‘covidcode’ by the cantonal medical service to enter into the app. Installing and using the app and entering the code are all voluntary.
