VVO 2010 (Optimisation of Ordinances and enforcement 2010)
The Accident Insurance Act (UVG) and the Employment Act (ArG) include parallel and in some cases overlapping provisions on occupational health and safety. With the amendment of the Accident Prevention Ordinance (VUV) and Ordinance 3 to the Employment Act (ArGV 3), enforcement is to be optimised.
Occupational health and safety is currently regulated by two pieces of legislation: the Federal Act on Accident Insurance (UVG) regulates occupational safety (prevention of occupational accidents and illnesses), while the Federal Act on Employment in Trade and Industry (ArG) contains provisions on general health protection. The two Acts include parallel and in some cases overlapping provisions on occupational health and safety. With the amendment of the Accident Prevention Ordinance (VUV) and Ordinance 3 to the Employment Act (ArGV 3), enforcement is to be optimised.
On the basis of analyses and surveys involving the executive bodies, the VUV was substantively revised with regard to responsibilities (Art. 49 VUV), and duplications in the VUV and ArGV 3 were formally corrected. The amended Ordinances have been in force since 1 October 2015.
