Instructions for self-regulation of synthetic nanomaterials

Producers and importers of chemicals must evaluate substances themselves before placing them on the market to assess whether these substances endanger human life, health or the environment.

These instructions from the FOEN, the FOPH, SECO and the FOAG are addressed at producers and importers of synthetic nanomaterials and of preparations and articles containing synthetic nanomaterials. The instructions on inspecting substances meet the legal requirements specified in acts and ordinances, and will lead to substances being more uniformly inspected. In following these instructions, producers and importers can assume they are abiding by federal law.
