SmokeFree: it always makes sense to stop smoking

Bern, 9.10.2017 - The SmokeFree campaign has chosen the slogan «I am stronger» to reflect the fact that you have to be strong to quit smoking. Just how strong is shown in a TV commercial currently running on various channels featuring a man tearing a telephone book in half.

SmokeFree Ich bin stärker. TV-Spot 2017 (Telefonbuch)

Movie only available in German, French and Italian.

SmokeFree, a tobacco prevention campaign run by the federal and cantonal authorities together with non-governmental organisations, helps smokers on their way to a smoke-free life. More than half of smokers – almost 700,000 people living in Switzerland – say they want to kick the habit. But they often lack the resolve.

The idea is to provide concrete help to strengthen these people’s motivation to quit. It’s easier to stop smoking if you have expert advice. The campaign’s TV commercials, print ads and posters reinforce the «I am strong» message, and at the same time establish non-smoking as the social norm. The current wave of the SmokeFree campaign, the last for the time being, runs until 29 October 2017.
