Transport

The transport of radioactive substances requires a licence from the FOPH (apart from excepted packages under ADR).
Specialized carriers are equipped to transport radioactive substances appropriately.

In Switzerland, the carriage of dangerous goods is regulated by ADR/SDR (road) and RID (rail). Radioactive substances are classified as Class 7 dangerous goods. Anyone wishing to consign or transport non-exempt radioactive substances requires special training and a licence from the FOPH.
